Kigali and Transfer to Akagera National Park
After enjoying a leisurely breakfast at your hotel or residence in Kigali, you will check out and set off on the journey to Akagera National Park, the renowned home of the Big Five. The transfer takes you through Rwanda’s rolling hills and scenic landscapes, offering a preview of the natural beauty that awaits. Along the way, an en-route game drive provides early chances to spot elephants, giraffes, lions, and herds grazing across the plains, as well as sweeping views of the savannah.
Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and be served lunch, followed by an afternoon of relaxation, with time to enjoy the facilities and the tranquil surroundings. As the evening approaches, you will set out on an exhilarating night game drive, an experience that reveals the park in an entirely new light. In the cool calm of the night, you may encounter nocturnal species rarely seen during the day, creating unforgettable moments under the stars. Later, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight rest, surrounded by the soothing sounds of the wild.
Akagera National Park
Akagera is celebrated as one of the most picturesque savannah landscapes in East Africa. After breakfast, with packed lunch boxes prepared, your day begins with a tranquil boat cruise on Lake Ihema. This excursion offers sweeping views of the lake and its surroundings, along with close encounters with pods of hippos, basking crocodiles, and an impressive variety of bird species.
Following the cruise, the journey continues through the southern giraffe plains and along the lakeside road toward Birengero. The park’s rich biodiversity reveals itself here, with opportunities to spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, antelopes, and many other species thriving in their natural habitat. At midday, you will pause for a picnic-style lunch at one of the designated areas, soaking in the wilderness atmosphere.

Afterward, you will check out and begin the scenic drive back to Kigali.
