8-Day Rwanda Gorillas, Chimps and Wildlife Safari Tour

Based on your arrival time at the airport, our English or French-speaking driver-guide will be there to welcome you and transfer you for a Kigali city tour. During this excursion, you will explore key landmarks including the Kigali Genocide Memorial, the bustling Kimironko Market, and Nyamirambo, the historic heart of the capital, along with several other fascinating sites. Following the tour, your guide will select one of the city’s finest restaurants for lunch. Afterward, you will be transferred to your booked hotel for check-in, dinner, and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at your Kigali hotel, your Lion Safaris driver-guide will pick you up and set off for Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda’s southwest. Along the way, you will stop at the Royal Palace Museum in the southern province, where you will gain insight into Rwanda’s traditional lifestyle and the historic system of kingship. Lunch will be enjoyed en route before continuing the scenic drive to Nyungwe, where you will spend the evening, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Following an early breakfast, you will set out for an exciting chimpanzee trekking adventure in Nyungwe, a vast montane rainforest spanning more than 1,000 square kilometers. The park is renowned for its incredible biodiversity, hosting 13 primate species, over 275 bird species, and around 100 varieties of orchids. After the trek, your driver-guide will return you to the lodge for lunch before taking you to the famous canopy walkway, the highest suspension bridge in the park, where you can enjoy breathtaking views across the forest. In the evening, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will check out, and your Lion Safaris driver-guide will transfer you to the northwest of Rwanda, the region that hosts Volcanoes National Park. Along the journey, you will take in the breathtaking scenery of Rwanda’s rolling hills. Upon arrival, you will check into your reserved lodge, where dinner and an overnight stay await.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on visitor guidelines before beginning your gorilla trekking adventure. Following this extraordinary encounter with the gorillas, you will return for lunch and later visit the scenic Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. In the evening, your driver-guide will transfer you back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

In the early morning, after breakfast, your driver-guide will pick you up at 8:00 am and transfer you to Akagera National Park. Upon arrival, you will check into your lodge and have lunch before heading out in the afternoon for a scenic boat ride on Lake Ihema, where you can spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of water birds. Later, you will return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast at your lodge, your driver-guide will take you on a full-day game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes. In the evening, you will return to the lodge to refresh before setting out again for an exciting night game drive, offering the chance to spot nocturnal wildlife such as leopards, hyenas, jackals, and other night-dwelling species. Following this adventure, you will be driven back to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, you will check out, and your driver-guide will pick you up for the journey back to Kigali. Upon arrival, you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or at the airport in time for your departure flight home.
