Detailed Itinerary
Kigali City to Volcanoes National Park
Our English or French-speaking driver-guide will meet you at your hotel or the airport for a Kigali city tour, where you will explore highlights such as the vibrant Kimironko Market and the moving Kigali Genocide Memorial. Following lunch, you will proceed to Volcanoes National Park, where dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge await.
Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Following breakfast, with packed lunch in hand, we will head to the park headquarters for a briefing on the proper etiquette for encountering mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. Once the orientation is complete, the adventure of gorilla trekking begins. After this extraordinary experience, you will return to your lodge for a well-deserved lunch. Later in the afternoon, your driver-guide will take you to visit the scenic twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo before returning to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Golden Monkey Trekking and transfer to Kigali
After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your lodge and transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing on how to respectfully interact with golden monkeys in their natural habitat. You will then set out to observe and photograph these lively primates in the wild. Once the golden monkey adventure concludes, your driver-guide will drive you back to Kigali, stopping for lunch at one of the city’s finest local restaurants before dropping you off at your hotel or the airport in time for your departure.
The best time to go on a safari is during the dry seasons, when wildlife gathers around water sources and sightings are more frequent and rewarding.
